For the off-gridcamper who still likes a bit of privacy when using the loo, there’s now an outdoor toilet that can be set up in a minute and a half. It can also be used as a shower or changing room.

Gazelle Tents, an American outdoor brand, is known for its warm, winter-proof and sturdy all-weather tents that can be pitched in ninety seconds using an integrated frame system. What was still missing from that range of pop-up tents was a foldable outdoor toilet for doing your business in peace and privacy in the great outdoors. Indeed: what any self-respecting adventurer does in a hole they’ve dug themselves.

Designed especially for motorhome campers who travel off-grid or go on overland trips – self-sufficient journeys to remote areas by car – this ‘Privacy Tent’ is intended to offer extra comfort. Simply by pulling on the handles, the X-shaped frame of the walls and roof unfolds.

With a height of 218 centimetres, a floor area of 122 by 122 centimetres and a large, D-shaped door for easy access, this tent is more spacious than other privacy tents. Thanks to the eight pegs supplied, the tent remains upright even in strong winds.

This privacy tent can also be used as a shower tent. It features dual hose openings and a drawstring suitable for integrating portable shower systems. There are pockets at the top for clothes, towels and toiletries.

The tent is made from sturdy, waterproof polyester with a silver coating to prevent people from seeing in. The floor, which features mesh panels for water drainage, can be completely removed. To ensure good ventilation, the roof is made of mesh fabric with a removable rain fly. The privacy tent can also be used as a changing room, which is certainly more comfortable than getting dressed in a cramped sleeping tent.

Weighing nine kilograms, this privacy tent isn’t exactly light, but when folded away, it fits neatly in the car. The tent is currently available for around 250 euros.
